Draft PTA Constitution Consultation
At the AGM we will be reviewing our Constitution to accommodate some newer ways of working online. As a Charity we are required to publish any proposed changes at least 28 days before the AGM and so we’ve published the updated version to be approved here. Please read the draft PTA Constitution and register your feedback at the AGM on 28 September 2021.
Ranelagh Parent Teacher Association
Our strapline is Putting the Fun into Fundraising. We organise various events throughout the year for Ranelagh families to enjoy and to fundraise for the school.
The PTA is organised by a joint Parent-Teacher committee, led by the Headteacher as PTA President and parent volunteers includes the executive roles of Chairperson, Secretary and Treasurer. The PTA is a registered charity, the members of which are parents or guardians of students at Ranelagh School. You can find out more about the Ranelagh PTA on the Charities Commission Website www.charity-commission.gov.uk (registered charity number 1125897).
How Can I help the PTA?
If you wish to offer your help and assistance to the PTA please get in touch with us at email@example.com or via the PTA Facebook page. There are lots of ways you can get involved and help out throughout the year and we welcome any help you can give.
We’re currently hoping to welcome on board a new Secretary, who would be willing to minute our meetings, which are held once a term generally. It’s a nice gentle way of helping out and getting to know some parents at school. No experience is necessary and there’s always people willing to stand in if you can’t make every meeting. Please get in touch to find out more.
- IT Infrastructure – As a result of the COVID-19 pandemic, the school is working hard to adapt to different ways of supporting teaching and learning and would like to upgrade the IT infrastructure to better support blended or hybrid learning opportunities for students. The PTA has pledged to contribute £3,500 towards IT infrastructure in classrooms and upgrades to support blended learning this academic year.
- Counselling – Every year the PTA contributes to the school’s pastoral care provision by contributing to the annual fees for Youthline and other counselling provision. We would like to continue to support the school by pledging to give £1,500 towards this year’s counselling provision.
- Outside Shelter – The school would like to erect a number of outside shelters to enable students to take shelter in bad weather or in the hotter summer months. This is especially important with the current social distancing rules in place, giving the school more options to manage student flow around the school in a safe way. We would like to contribute £6,000 towards one semi-permanent shelter this year. Please help us to achieve our goal!
- Curriculum Projects – We would like to raise £2,000 to be put into a ‘pot’ to be allocated to curriculum areas following a bid process. We will share details with you when we have further details about the successful bids.
All of our projects are detailed on our online giving platform, Kindlink, where you can see how much we have raised so far, and make a donation.
Summer 2021 Update on Fundraising
Here we are at the end of a unique academic year! In spite of being an unusual fundraising year we’ve been able to adapt to new ways of doing things and the Ranelagh community has got behind us every time.
We committed to raising a total of £13,000 towards these four initiatives and we’re delighted to say that we have raised a total of £13,966 this year from fundraising activities so we did it! We’re really grateful to everyone who has helped us to reach these goals, to the volunteers on the committee, the parents who secured match funding from Microsoft, the parent helpers who work willingly behind the scenes to bring it altogether and to all the families who buy tickets, donate money online or items for events or who support the work we do in other ways, particularly under such extraordinary circumstances. A very big thank you everyone!
Reward and Giving Schemes
Donate Online via kindlink
Please consider making a one-off or regular donation towards this year’s projects either by donating cash or a cheque made payable to the Ranelagh PTA and hand this into the school office or donate online via kindlink, or contribute via one of the reward schemes below.
Kindlink do not charge an admin fee to process our fundraising contributions as it was set up specially to help charities like us to spend less on fees and raise more for their causes. The only fees taken through the platform when you give via Kindlink is the bank fee which is 1.45% plus 14p per transaction.
Alternatively, you can donate by direct bank transfer (email us for details) or cash or cheque (made payable to Ranelagh School PTA) to avoid any fees altogether. We’ll then manually add your donation to the Kindlink platform to record it against the total.
We do not store any payment details you give when you donate online. Payment is processed by BT on their own end-to-end processing system, BT Buynet. This same secure system is used for customers paying their BT bills online which means it’s very safe to pay online.
Easyfundraising and Amazon Smile
easyfundraising is a way to turn your everyday online shopping into FREE donations. When you shop at one of the hundreds of available stores online through easyfundraising, they make a donation to the PTA to say thank you for shopping with them.
What’s Amazon Smile?
Why sign up?
So far we’ve raised more than £3,000 through easyfundraising and Amazon Smile. Imagine how much more we could raise if every parents and carer signed up and remembered to shop online in this way?
What’s the catch?
There isn’t one. It costs you nothing and easyfundraising and amazon make sure donations come straight to the PTA.
How do I sign up?
Go to www.easyfundraising.org.uk/causes/ranelaghpta/ You can download an app to your phone to manager your account and shop on your phone or shop via the site on your web browser.
Go to smile.amazon.co.uk from the web browser on your computer or mobile device. You may also want to add a bookmark to smile.amazon.co.uk to make it even easier to return and start your shopping at AmazonSmile.
Do you have to sign up to Amazon Smile if you are already registered with easyfundraising?
Yes, if you’re shopping on Amazon. Just search for Amazon Smile on easyfundraising as you would any other store and follow the links. Once you’ve chosen Ranelagh School Parent Teacher Association as your charity, you won’t need to select it again when you shop at amazon next time.
Can I use Amazon Smile through the Amazon app on my phone?
Android phones give you the option to add a cause to your Settings but unfortunately iPhones don’t yet. There’s a work around in the meantime – Go to www.smile.amazon.com in your phone’s browser and log into your account. In the phone’s menu bar at the top right, select “Add to home screen.” A kind of “app” for Amazon Smile will appear on your home screen. You can first go into the Amazon shopping app (better appearance for phone) and choose your items, then click on the Amazon Smile “app” and order from there.
Bracknell Forest Lottery Scheme
Bracknell Forest Lottery is a weekly lottery that raises money for local good causes. Each ticket for the lottery costs £1 per week, with 50p of every pound going towards your chosen good cause, and you have a 1 in 50 chance to win a prize every Saturday when the numbers are drawn, with a top prize of £25,000! That’s much better odds of winning than the National Lottery or the Health Lottery!
We are already set to raise over £1,300 per year for our school from only 42 tickets bought in support of Ranelagh PTA so far – imagine the real difference we could make if even half of our parent community signed up!
If you’re able, please do consider supporting this new school fundraising initiative whilst also being in with a good chance to win a prize! You can find full details and sign up here.
Waitrose Community Matters
A BIG thank you to the Waitrose Community Matters scheme for donating the sum of £333 to Ranelagh School PTA.
We’re now registered to receive Gift Aid so if you’re a UK taxpayer, Gift Aid increases the value of your charity donations by 25%, because the charity can reclaim the basic rate of tax on your gift – at no extra cost to you. Just remember to tick the gift aid box and confirm your address when asked and we do the rest.
Match Funding and Corporate Social Responsibility Programmes
A number of parents have been able to seek considerable sums of funding from their employers as either match funding for events they have been involved with, or through a charity programme (sometimes badged Corporate Social Responsibility or CSR programmes for short).
For instance, Microsoft have match funded our annual Quiz Night for several years now which has doubled any profits made at those events. Others, such as Afton Chemical Ltd have been longstanding donors of the 1st, 2nd and 3rd place prize money given at our Founders Day raffle as part of their CSR programme.
Other local companies choose to support Ranelagh PTA charity by donating goods or equipment for events. The Dyer family from the Butchers in Windsor, for example, have been donating a fabulous free-range turkey as part of the 1st prize Christmas hamper for years, and Hall Hunter Partnership (Farming) have been donating strawberries for our Founders Day cream teas for years too.
There are so many ways businesses can help us to raise more money for the school. Please let us know if you can help in any way – we’d love to hear from you. We’ve even produced a letter template to help you make an appeal to your employer.
