Curriculum Leader- Drama

Required for September 2025 on a maternity contract, an inspirational and talented Curriculum Leader and Drama Teacher to be able to teach up to A level.  This maternity cover is for our current Curriculum Leader and it is our preference to appoint someone keen to take on these responsibilities; however, applications are also welcomed from colleagues interested in covering the teaching responsibilities without the leadership aspects.

The Drama Department holds high academic standards and results are excellent. Colleagues use a range of teaching methods with an emphasis on developing students as individuals, contributors to society and to the economy. Throughout the key stages, students investigate theatre, rehearse and perform drama and evaluate and analyse their own work and live theatre. There is a range of teaching material available within department, including playscripts, props, costumes and a variety of stimuli for devising.

Drama is taught as discrete subject and taught to all key stages. At GCSE, students follow the AQA Drama specification and there are typically two classes in each year group. Sixth Form students follow the Edexcel Drama and Theatre specification and typically there is one class per year group. Most students follow the performer pathway, however each year students do choose to follow the design route, and students have completed their qualifications in lighting, costume and sound at GCSE level.

If you have a very good knowledge and understanding of the subject and you are an excellent teacher looking to develop your career in a supportive and progressive environment, we would welcome an application from you.  Opportunities for personal development are excellent.

Ranelagh is an 11-18 coeducational, Anglican Academy (converter) which is oversubscribed and has an excellent reputation for academic achievement and positive school ethos.  The school has had five ‘outstanding’ OFSTED reports, with Grade 1 across all areas, but we are not complacent and as such the provision for professional learning and development is something of which we are all very proud.

The school is committed to safeguarding and promoting the welfare of children and expects all staff to share this commitment. All staff employed in the school must be aware that an enhanced Disclosure and Barring Service check will be undertaken.
